Who we are

KMF Advisory (ABN [ABN]) is an aviation, regulatory and corporate advisory firm based in Kingston, ACT. We advise boards, executives and government. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through our website, www.kmfadvisory.com.au, including through our ‘Start a Conversation’ enquiry form.

We handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Some small businesses are exempt from the Privacy Act, but we choose to follow the APPs as best practice.

What we collect

When you submit our enquiry form, we collect:

  • your first and last name;

  • your email address and company;

  • the details you provide about your matter; and

  • whether you have chosen to sign up for news and updates.

Our website is hosted on Squarespace, which may use cookies and collect basic analytics, such as the pages you visit, your browser and device type, your approximate location and your IP address. You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • read and respond to your enquiry;

  • assess whether we can help, including checking for any conflicts of interest; and

  • send you news and updates, but only if you have opted in.

We use analytics information to understand how our website is used and to improve it.

Confidential and sensitive matters

A director reads every enquiry and treats it in confidence. Even so, a website form is not the right place for sensitive or highly confidential material. Please do not include sensitive information (such as health information or criminal record details) or confidential documents in the form. A brief outline is enough; if we need more, we will arrange a secure channel.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • service providers that help us run our website and communications, such as Squarespace and our email providers; and

  • others where required or authorised by law.

We will not otherwise disclose your personal information without your consent.

Overseas storage

Form submissions are stored in Squarespace and emailed to us. Squarespace’s servers may be located overseas, including in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed outside Australia.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We keep it only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it.

News and updates

If you sign up, we will send you occasional news and updates from KMF Advisory. Every email will identify us as the sender and include a simple way to unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time, either through that link or by contacting us.

Access and correction

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.

Complaints

If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page, with its effective date.
